Wollongong’s progressive rock/ metal band, A Hill To Die For are hitting the local music scene with world domination and two new EPS on the way.
With music influences from bands such as: Pantera, Karnivool, Lamb of God and Twelve Foot Ninja, and an awesome stage presence at gigs; A Hill to Die For is definitely a band to listen to and see live!
“We’re probably going to be doing two EPS, that’s the rough idea at the moment. There was one idea to call the first one ‘Ascending.’ and the second ‘Descending.’ So that’s one idea, it’s not in concrete yet but yeah. That should be out second half of the year – the first one. The second one will come out next year.” Drummer Michael Beckett revealed.
“Yeah we may also look at the second EP, releasing singles first, but the first EP will be released with a film clip attached to it first, which is pretty cool.” Lead guitarist Mark Lenzo also added.
Talking about the sound of their upcoming music, the band hinted at what their fans can expect of their EPS.
“Total world domination.” Lead singer Nate Ledgerwood comically revealed.
“The songs are written by us both musically, as in guitar wise by myself and Sam and then constructed by the band, there’s a couple of influences there. There’s a bit of an age gap difference between Sam, and myself and Mikey and Nate for example have a bit of an age gap. Our influences are all different so depending on whose written the song some are a little more laid back and others are more full on, so we’re just trying to meld all that together and hopefully with the completion of this EP we’ll have that sorted… What can fans expect? We’re trying to improve and not quite box ourselves under a same genre that’s been done before; something totally different.” Mark went on to say.
“So many different genres molded in together; the rap aspect, the grungy aspect, the metal aspect, the aggressive aspect.” Nate then added.
“It’s gonna have nice sweet parts, heavy drop downs, rap.”
Talking about what they hope for with their EPS, guitarist Sam Burrell said,
“I feel a CD is something people get and they can listen to it in the car over and over again, that’s what I think we’re sort of hoping for and if we can all listen to it in the car over and over again; we’ve all got different ideas of what we all really like, then I think it’d be pretty sweet.”
So when are A Hill To Die For playing next? Michael gives insight into their up coming gigs.
“The 27th of this month we’re playing acoustically at Dicey Rileys, 23rd of March at the Uni bar for Earth Hour. 5th April at Dicey Rileys again, but instead of acoustic, we’re going to blow the back wall out it’s going to be awesome.”
